Now that the IL MCPP is almost 2 years old, many of the 24,000 patients in the program are realizing that not all dispensaries are the same. As anyone who has run a business knows, it is easier to retain current clients than to find new ones. That means keeping them happy by providing outstanding products.
The program has been running long enough that patients are finding that some dispensaries attempt to sell old product. Not only is it not very appealing to the eye, but it is more than likely that it has lost some of its potency. Some dispensaries clearly have higher standards of business practices than others. They set an internal standard of excellence from which they never waiver. With prices of product still very high for many of those on a fixed income, getting the most “bang for your buck” is uppermost in patients’ minds. Some dispensaries carry products which are set to expire, either from over ordering or from improperly estimating product demand.
We, at Midwest Compassion Center, strive to make sure that we do not have old flower by purchasing only the highest quality products. We typically sell out completely within 30-40 days. In the event that we do not sell it in that time frame, we reduce the price. Patients are happy to get a discounted product. We spend a lot of time and effort on inventory selection. In doing so, we feel confident that we are choosing the best products for our patients. Many dispensaries order a random selection of products and then push those on patients just to get them out of the store.
Another business practice that sets us apart is the sampling of products by 3 patient employees. They test the products and give their opinions on whether or not they meet our high standards of excellence. We also offer patients the opportunity to sample products in exchange for reviews. Here are some actual reviews from current MCC patients.
“The staff takes time to get to know you and helps identify strains for your specific needs. They even source specific products for individual patients. Great experience, overall!”
“This was my third visit today and I couldn’t be happier with their service and selection. Took advantage of their daily special and spent time speaking with their staff about new products for my condition.”
