There is still quite a lot of confusion about which cannabis products patients can purchase at their chosen dispensaries. Only products made with Illinois grown medical cannabis can be sold in dispensaries. This excludes most of the products that comprise the multi-million dollar US CBD hemp oil industry. For one thing, the CBD hemp oil industry is not regulated. So, you don’t really know what quality of CBD hemp oil you are getting unless the manufacturer does lab tests and shares that information with the consumer.
There is a dizzying array of products. Soaps of all descriptions, salt scrubs, lip balms, wax melts, shea body butters, candles, edibles, gel pens and even CBD oil for your companion animals. Some companies specialize in selling a small range of products, with CBD hemp oil as the big draw. They mix CBD hemp oil with other essential oils to produce oils and creams with descriptions like Calming, Relieving, Stimulating and Extra Strength. There are even transdermal patches that work like nicotine patches.
FYI, Mary Medicinals makes 2 different lines of transdermal patches. One line is CBD only and can be purchased in all 50 states. The other line is CBD and CBD:THC patches. They partner with cultivation centers in a handful of states and produce medical cannabis patches which sell in dispensaries.
I am not a medical cannabis patient, although I have been a cannabis user for a long time. I decided to try some CBD hemp oil products, myself, to see if they helped alleviate my aches and pains. I am technically a senior, so I do experience the stiffness and muscle achiness that goes along with aging. I do not have any serious conditions and for that I am grateful.
I started off by trying CBD hemp oil made from crystals. I ingested it by mouth, under the tongue. The first time I tried it, I felt dizzy and nauseous. An unusual reaction, I was told. Other than that, I didn’t notice any benefit. Maybe I wasn’t taking enough, so I increased the dosage. Nothing much. I increased it again and thought maybe, over time, it would help. Nope. Don’t get me wrong. There are thousands of people who use the oil and experience a lot of benefit. But, for me, I concluded that I also need the THC; actually, the products from the whole plant work best for me.
I decided to test a second company’s products; CBD hemp oil salve, a muscle pain cream, gel pen and some transdermal patches. The only product that helped was the transdermal CBD patch. I applied it to the inside of my leg at the ankle and left it on for 12 hours. There was a noticeable improvement.
I tested the products of one last company. They had a small line of products which combined CBD hemp oil with several other essential oils to make pain relieving oils and relaxing body cremes. My husband turned out to be the tester after he was bitten by a horsefly. He had a crazy reaction to the bite where his entire lower leg turned bright red and swelled up. He said the constant itching was intolerable. We tried just about everything in our medicine cabinet. The most effective proved to be the CBD hemp oil mixed with lavender, chamomille and frankincense.
I hope my personal experiences were helpful!
