Medical Cannabis Outreach to Provide Application Assistance On IL Medical Cannabis Program
Lockport, IL May 9th, 2016
Medical Cannabis Outreach (MCO), a local cannabis advocacy group, will host two free educational seminars to offer assistance with the state cannabis patient application process.
Events will be held on Saturday, May 14th from 1pm to 2pm at the Lockport Public Library located at 121 E 8th Street and Sunday May, 15th from 1pm to 2pm at the Romeoville Public Library located at 201 Normantown Road.
“The application for a medical marijuana card can be quite daunting,” remarked MCO President Caprice Sweatt. “We’re here to provide a service to the community to help patients understand the medicinal benefits of marijuana and how to navigate through the application process.”
Sweatt further commented “Our seminars are interactive and informative. We seek to clarify the requirements of the Illinois Medical Cannabis Pilot Program. For those who can’t make it to the event, we also provide consultative support on the phone.”
There are currently 35 dispensaries open in the State. Midwest Compassion Center (MCC), a dispensary located at 1335 Lakeside Drive, Suite 4 in Romeoville, opened just last week and will serve Will, Dupage, Kendall, Cook, and Grundy counties.
“We appreciate the service that Caprice provides to the community” stated MCC co-owner Nicole van Rensburg. “Patients have to get fingerprinted, show proof of state residency, and have one of the 39 qualifying conditions. Filling out the paperwork can be a lot to do, and especially overwhelming if you are not feeling well. Caprice really takes the time to, figuratively, hold the patient’s hand.”
