Pharmacannis Medical Cannabis Cultivator

Cultivation Corner – Pharmacannis

Midwest Compassion Center Dispensary feels it’s important for our patients to know where their medical cannabis comes from and how it’s grown or manufactured.  Our Cultivation Corner section of our blog will feature licensed cultivators throughout the State of Illinois and will provide more details as to what differentiates their products and offerings.

Our first installment features Pharmacannis who has two cultivation centers which are located in Dwight and Hillcrest.  We look forward to offering medical cannabis products from Pharmacannis!

Please describe your growing methods. Do you utilize sun powered greenhouses, indoor soil, hydroponics, aquaponics, ebb and flow, etc.?

We are proud to be one of the only Illinois cultivators to be greenhouse‐grown naturally.   For PharmaCann, Sun Grown in Soil (TM) is more than a tagline, it’s a philosophy. PharmaCann’s growing methods best emulate a natural environment. Plants grown at our cultivation centers are grown in state-of-the-art, climate-controlled greenhouses which create a natural kinship to what our plants would experience in nature.

How do you feel your methods will create a superior product?

At PharmaCann, we don’t accept that pumping plants full of unnatural chemicals or stimulating growth synthetically creates a superior anything. There is only one right way to grow cannabis or any other agricultural product, and that’s the way Mother Nature does it: Sun Grown in Soil (TM).

PharmaCann is one of the only Illinois cultivators using the sun’s natural light spectrum to ensure our products are balanced from a nutrient perspective. We use no pesticides and all–‐natural crop input products. We utilize an IPM (Integrated Pest Management) strategy to control pests. IPM allows the cultivation team to stay on top of any potential problems. Daily scouting and monitoring the crop ensures potential problems will be found early. Our products are designed to promote wellbeing. . . naturally.

How would you rank your products based on a price scale from 1 to 10?

PharmaCann is able to leverage its operational efficiencies and growing methods to be one of the most cost-effective producers in the marketplace.

How would you rank your products based on a quality scale from 1 to 10?

PharmaCann’s advanced, but natural, growing methods mean purity, consistency, and predictability.

What type of pest control or nutrients will be used in the growing process? Do you plan on utilizing organic methods?

The IPM (Integrated Pest Management) approach is the planned method for insect and disease management. All cultivation team members will spend a portion of their day conducting routine scouting of all growing areas. Being tuned in with the daily changes of the plants is critical to reacting to horticultural needs. The fertility program is organic-based. Nearly all crop-inputs applied to our plants are OMRI-certified products. We take great care in developing and providing a feed program which is not only healthy for the plants, but also safe for patients.

What do you think is the most important aspect of cannabis cultivation?

There are two criteria which have the greatest impact on the quality of cannabis production. One is the strain itself. The other is the cannabis plant-growing environment. PharmaCann has positioned itself to offer the best leading medical strains on the market and we produce plants under natural sunlight and in soil to closer emulate the plant’s natural environment.

Are you working with any out of state experts in the cannabis industry?

Not at present.

Please tell us about the experience of your master grower(s)?

Our Director of Cultivation has spent 20 years working in the ornamental horticulture industry, as a Head Grower and also in product development functions for two of the largest companies in the industry. During her 14 years at a premier horticulture company, she grew product for their Certification Greenhouses, supplying off‐shore production sites with clean stock material, along with growing plants for marketing events; her later years were spent in product development. Most recently, she spent time working for a large ornamental horticulture company as a Market Manager with a focus on forecasting the vegetative portfolio.

What differentiates you and your products from other cultivators?

Largely what sets PharmaCann apart is the ability to grow in a more natural environment. Providing plants with natural sunlight and large amounts of fresh air better emulates how they would grow in their natural environment.

What characteristics should an informed patient look for in their cannabis products?

We believe our products will have a more vibrant, robust appearance fitting a better quality plant. Beyond that, a patient should consult with his or her physician on the desired characteristics of medical cannabis.
